This is the first time I can recall since December when the temperatures stayed above freezing for at least 24 hours. It's been warm enough to soften the snow into relinquishing more of the extension cords and Christmas decorations still lingering on the lawn. I might be able to finally bring in the reindeer but the base of the snowman is still frozen in a block of ice. Maybe by spring I can finally put Christmas away.

This weekend also marks the semi-annual event in which we collectively agree to alter time. Springing forward into Daylight Savings time means this weekend is an hour shorter than it should be. In exchange we get days that stay lighter later. Longer daylight is a good thing, I like coming home in the late afternoon and still having a few hours of daylight in front of me.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday and we celebrated last night with dinner out and a movie. We chose "Watchmen" for the night's film with her having no familiarity with the graphic novel and I being very familiar with the source as well as having reservations about the director's ability to make a meaningful film out of it. For the majority of the film it's devotion to the source is nearly slavish but too much was changed in the translation. Those who never read the book might enjoy it but those like myself who have read it will be disappointed.

Reviews have been mixed at best, and apparently it underperformed for the opening weekend of a movie that was promoted as hard as this one.
