I was going to write my own post about the finale of LOST but I ended up writing most of what I had to say about it over here instead. (Sorry about that, Rich - I didn't mean to get quite so wordy with my comments.)
Show-runners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof always said they snuck the sci-fi elements of the show into a drama but I'd like to think it was the other way around. A lot of sci-fi fans who otherwise might not have been drawn to a prime time dramatic series were lured in by the offbeat mysteries served up every week. Maybe that's why some people were so disappointed with the ending, because they never quite "got" what the whole thing was really all about to start with.
It was a terrific show and I doubt we'll see the likes of it again anytime soon.
