Even though we usually bring our camera we seldom think to stop and take some pictures along the way. In typical fashion, we neglected to get any shots on our way up to Whitehall, NY, we did snap a few shots on the way home yesterday.
Passing through Cuttingsville. Vermont on route 103 we came across a beautiful old home that caught our eye. This Victorian summer home is known as Laurel Hall and belonged to a fellow named John P Bowman. More information about Mr. Bowman and the home can be found here.
As much of an attention-grabber as it might be it's nothing compared to the monument directly across the street from it in the Laurel Glen Cemetery.
Neither of us had ever seen such a unique memorial and we were already a little ways past it so we had to turn back to stop and take these shots. The statue is apparently a likeness of the owner of Laurel Hall, who had the mausoleum built as a memorial for his wife had daughters and more details about it can be found over here.
Somewhat less historic but no less eye-catching, much further down the road we spotted what was either a very old garage or a barn that wanted to be one...

The excursion was fun for the both of us and we're looking forward to another road trip together soon.
