One Year Later

It's been a year now since I posted the news of my wife Shelly suffering a stroke. Her birthday was on March 7th and she now calls the 12th her "rebirthday."  There have been some tough moments for all of us here but I'm glad to write that Shelly's recovery is continuing every day.  She hasn't regained a full 100% of her mobility yet but there's no reason to believe she won't, it's just going to take some more time and effort.

Shelly hasn't lost one iota of her sense of humor during all of this.  She said after the surgery that neurosurgeons are lousy hairstylists, they never cut your hair the way you like so she opted to just have her head shaved and start fresh.  This is a picture of her just a few weeks after the stroke while she was still in rehab at Fairlawn.

And here she is in a photo I snapped earlier today, just before we went out for the afternoon (the scarf isn't just a fashion statement).  Check out those clear eyes, that happy smile and that beautiful, thick and healthy head of hair!  And no more wheelchair, she's getting around fairly well with a cane now and has regained a lot of mobility in her left arm

Oh, and that gall bladder problem she was originally admitted for?  They were finally able to remove that just this past January.  Things are looking up and we're both looking forward to a long and healthy future together.
