The Neverending Winter

It's hard to feel as optimistic as fellow blogger Tony does about the eventual (and hopefully inevitable) return of Spring-like weather when  I look outside on April 2nd to scenes like this around my house.  We got hit with considerably more snow than other parts of the state yesterday and the white stuff lingers long past it's welcome has been worn out.
Mind you, I'm a lifelong New Englander and this isn't my first rodeo as far as off-season snow storms are go.  I remember one Easter Sunday back in the 1960s when we were hit with a full-on blizzard.  And then there was the freak snowstorm on a sunny afternoon in in the late '70s that made the national news because of the damage done to the shade tobacco industry around the area.
But following on the heels of a winter as cold and miserable as this past one has been, this last and hopefully final blast feels especially nasty if not downright spiteful on Mother Nature's part.  In years past, I'd be out raking or maybe even preparing garden beds by now, not reaching for the snow shovel or buying yet another bag of ice melter for the front walk.
