Earlier today at work I got upset when I found out Maintenance had apparently tossed out my lunch during a fridge cleaning. When it was brought to my attention that an e-mail was sent out about this last week I just got quiet and moody rather than appropriately apologetic. Yeah, I was the one who was wrong but in that moment it just aggravated me more - talk about displaced aggression! I retrieved the lunch bag, Maintenance had spotted it and several others as "live" ones and stayed their execution.
After work I made a stop at a grocery store about two towns over from home, that's about as close as we can find anything that resembles a real supermarket like the ones found in civilized places. I was frustrated by the inability of my new smart phone to retrieve my grocery list from Evernote and I had to do the shopping from memory.* I was certain it was because of a lack of any decent 3G coverage out here in the woods and considered a snarky Twitter post or two but had lost the old contact number I had for texting into that service.
Driving home with the groceries I mulled over the experience and realized I was in an area where I couldn't get any cell service at all with my old phone but the connection held up just fine the other day while talking to a friend. This area was even further in the country than the store was, if I could get 3G here...and that's when it hit me. I had turned 3G off on my phone out of fear of needlessly burning my still kind of pricey data, that's why I couldn't access Evernote. I never thought to check this while I was silently taking the phone's name in vain at the store.
I wonder how many more stupid moves I can make before the day is over...
* - I remembered everything except the whipped cream, probably because I never eat that stuff
