What Your Android Says About You

It recently came to light that there's a hidden app on millions of Android smartphones logging everything users do on the phones. Every number dialed, every text received, every single button pressed on the device is noted and sent off to a company named Carrier IQ.

I was curious so I hooked up my LG Thrive and poked around a little bit.  The following are screenshots showing that Carrier IQ didn't even bother trying to hide this app, it's right under the running applications.  It claims it's not using any memory or system resources but my event logs say otherwise, I suspect this is the app's way of keeping it from being able to be closed.

I don't recall ever giving the app the permissions it has, either:

Sadly, this model of smartphone isn't open to being easily modded.  Still, I'm looking around for ways to get this nasty little rootkit out of the phone altogether.  I've read that in addition to being a huge invasion of privacy that it's also a real battery hog.
