Dudes Of Christmas Past

This was meant to be posted yesterday but I got distracted by my annual cookie-baking madness.  I swore I wasn't going to do too much this year and just like every year I always end up doing more than I'd planned.  And I'm already lying to myself about having learned my lesson and not going overboard next year.

December 23rd was a date with a special meaning in my younger days.  My friends and I as teenagers knew that we'd be too busy with family functions from Christmas Eve until after the holiday to hang around together so  we all made a point of celebrating The Night Before The Night Before Christmas together.  Underage as we were, we still managed to get some alcohol (I always looked and sounded older than my actual age and none of us were driving) and with it being the '70s weed was cheap and plentiful.  We'd all get small gifts to exchange with each other - t-shirts, packs of imported cigarettes, records, that sort of thing - and make merry together

We've all gone off in different directions since those days.  I still stay in touch with a very few of my old friends from back then but at this time of year I really miss the others who've drifted away. - Tony, Vic, Rob, Ray, Mark, Dave, Hogie and probably some others whose names have faded from my memory.  I really miss you guys, especially Hogie and Dave who left this world long ago and far too young.  Merry Christmas, guys.  I hope your holidays have been happy ones and that you remember the fun times we had together like I do.

"Thank someone for contacting my office..."

If I'd actually written to either of my Senators I might be happy to get a response back, even an automated one telling me which addresses I should send my e-mail to.  The problem is that I didn't write to either of my Senators about anything.

My best guess is that some anti-SOPA hippie activist thought I'd be okay with them using my e-mail address on my behalf.  It's not okay and I'm regretting ever having shown any support for stopping that vile legislation in the first place.  It's proof once more that no good deed ever goes unpunished.
